Thank you so much for your quick response Mr Fungi.
I got it working in Debian 8 using the Debian "archive" sites, and then
tried the same process in both Adelie and OpenBSD.
I still got the same error. Whether it was using another xorg.conf other
than /etc/xorg.conf or what I don't know, but it couldn't load the r128
driver, which wasn't what I had specified in my xorg.conf (ati).
For what it's worth, the xorg.conf from this site (for my iMac, with a
minor amendment for syntax: Added EndSection about line 30) got me up and
running on Debian 8.

I'll be coming back to Adelie in the future, for now I'm just happy to have
something up and running!
Thank you again, and please keep me in the loop with any project news, or
if you need someone to test on in the future!
Phil.

Hello!
First, so sorry if I'm spamming anyone, I'm new to mailing lists...
Second, thank you so much for a distro aimed at ppc32 - my fallback was
always Gentoo but so much of my time seemed to be spent recompiling. apk
looks really promising.
I've installed Adelie from the manual installer (I'd be happy to throw my
hat in the ring to maybe help make that a little clearer) and set the auto
boot in Open Firmware, works like a charm at the CLI. I'm now working on a
DE X install. icewm, to be exact.
I don't really care about speed, I'm just really after something
functional. I've given up on the ati drivers and am falling back to fbdev.
The X test on the config.new fails with something about the mode. I've
tried forcing the mode in the Monitor config section but no joy.
I've removed the blacklist entry in modprobes.d for radeonfb and modprobe
radeonfb worked, and given it another go, but still no luck and I realise
that frankly I don't know what I'm doing so I thought I'd just ask.
Thank you all in advance
Phil.
Welcome Phil,
Wild shot in the dark as well,
There should be a Xorg log in /var/log
Grep for "(EE)"
Have tried to start X as root, to make sure it is not a privilege issue
Also on your repositories have you checked these two additional repos?
/etc/apk/repositories
my list for amd64:
https://distfiles.adelielinux.org/adelie/current/system/
https://distfiles.adelielinux.org/adelie/current/user/
https://distfiles.apkfission.net/adelie/1.0/main/
https://distfiles.apkfission.net/adelie/1.0/nonfree/
I don't think apkfission have ppc32 only ppc64
You probably know better :)
